Mubende road and upgrading of city roads with Energoprojekt Holding 2022 to 2023

📍 Project Background

The Mubende District, a key transit corridor in Central Uganda, was facing challenges including narrow roads, poor drainage, and deteriorating surfaces. In response, the government initiated a major road improvement and upgrading program aimed at enhancing connectivity, easing congestion, and promoting economic growth within the region.

Energoprojekt Holding, an international engineering and construction firm, was contracted as the main contractor. Amra Construction, recognized for its reliable civil works capacity and local expertise, was engaged as a subcontractor for various technical components of the project.



🎯 Project Objectives

  • To rehabilitate and upgrade the Mubende–Kampala Road to improve regional trade routes.

  • To modernize selected city roads within Mubende Municipality for better urban traffic flow.

  • To enhance stormwater drainage and improve pedestrian safety infrastructure.

  • To facilitate economic development by improving access to markets, schools, and health centers.



🏗️ Amra Construction’s Scope of Work

Amra Construction played a vital role by executing a wide range of civil and technical works, including:

👷‍♂️ Civil Works

  • Site clearance, vegetation removal, and debris disposal.

  • Mass earthworks including excavation, grading, and leveling.

  • Construction of road sub-base and base layers using approved granular material.

  • Bituminous surfacing and asphalt laying using modern pavers and rollers.

🌧️ Drainage & Flood Mitigation

  • Installation of stormwater culverts and concrete-lined drains.

  • Box culvert construction at flood-prone sections.

  • Reinforced concrete headwalls and catch pits to direct runoff.

🧱 Urban Enhancements

  • Paving of pedestrian walkways and installation of kerbstones.

  • Construction of traffic calming structures (speed humps, junction islands).

  • Painting and installation of reflective road markings and traffic signs.

  • Street lighting foundations and ducting works.

🚜 Plant & Equipment Deployment

  • Supply and operation of bulldozers, excavators, graders, compactors, and tipper trucks.

  • On-site mechanical support and logistics coordination for uninterrupted operations.
