Project Background
The North Eastern Road-Corridor Asset Management Project (NERAMP) is a flagship infrastructure initiative by the Government of Uganda, aimed at improving the condition, reliability, and management of key road corridors in the Karamoja and Teso sub-regions. The project focuses on the Tororo–Mbale–Soroti–Lira–Kamudini corridor, a vital route for trade, mobility, and regional integration.
The project is financed by the World Bank through the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and implemented under a Performance-Based Contract (PBC) model, where road construction, maintenance, and management are bundled into one long-term package.
Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção África S.A. was awarded the main contract, and Amra Construction was brought on board as a reliable subcontractor for civil works, plant support, and local coordination.
